5 ways to Make Money on YouTube without being a partner

Updated on May 14, 2014

Introduction

Most YouTubers are aware that you can make money on YouTube using the YouTube Partners Program. However, some users cannot join due to copyright infringements or it is not available in their country. In this post I will give you 5 ways to make money on YouTube without being a partner.

What is the YouTube Partner Program

The YouTube Partner Program allows you to make money on YouTube by placing Google Ads in or around your video. The criteria stated by YouTube to join the partner program is:

You create original videos suitable for online streaming

You own or have express permission to use and monetize all audio and video content that you upload—no exceptions.

You regularly upload videos that are viewed by thousands of YouTube users, or you publish popular or commercially successful videos in other ways (such as DVDs sold online).

Many YouTubers will not meet the criteria but still have the desire to make money on YouTube or you may not wish to put ads on your videos as a courtesy to subscribers and viewers.

Google Adsense and Amazon Associates

You can generate a good amount of revenue with any free blog using these methods. You can set up and monetize a Blogger Blog or write articles on HubPages. You may also use a domain you own

Google Adsense allows you to put adds on your articles, blog or website. When someone clicks on your adds you can get up to a few dollars from Google. To sign up you must have a website or blog to link to. After that you may put it on any other site that allows you to do so. You can sign up for Google Adsense here. Blogger.com which is run by Google easily integrates Adsense and lets you post ads wherever you want. It is possible to make a lot of money from Google Adsense but don't get your hopes high as it takes time to start earning a decent revenue.

Amazon Associates is very different from Google Adsense but is just as easy to use. By joining the Amazon Associates Program you are able to advertise Amazon products and earn a commission for each product sold. You are able to show products on your blog, website or articles but you can also create a custom link to a product and put it in the video description. This will work great if you talk about the product in your video. For example, if you make a video about the best cameras, you can post links to them via Amazon. You will also have a better chance of people buying the item as they were obviously looking for that product when they came across your video. You can learn more about it and sign up here.

Enable Revenue Sharing

Revenue sharing is a feature on YouTube that allows you to monetize popular videos that you have made. This is a bit of a wild card but if your video is eligible for Revenue Sharing, it will give you the option next to your video on the my videos page. This is very similar to partnership in that it lets you put Adsense ads in or around your YouTube videos

Adf.ly

Adf.ly is a URL shortener that lets you make money. It can be a replacement for bit.ly or tiny Url. All you have to do is shorten the link and post it wherever you want: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and your website. You can put links to your website on your videos or link your video on your website. It is best if you have a decent following on any of the following websites as the users will be more inclined to click the links.

Which method makes the biggest earnings for you? (not just on YouTube)

Thanks for taking the time to read this post and I hope I helped you. I have used all of the methods above with moderate success. How you may earn from them is totally different as you may find more or less success.
